PFA

We had our Afternoon tea, AGM and first PFA meeting this week.

Welcome to all our new parents/members and welcome back to the parents who are on the committee again this year.  It was great to see new and existing faces.   We look forward to the year ahead.

The executive members are:

President: Jess Ward

Vice President: Kristy Dunkerley

Secretary: Sarah Higgins

Treasurer: Tina Shakeri

I would like to open the invitation to all parents/guardians to come to a meeting or even help out with events during the year to see what it is all about.  You don’t have to commit to every event just when you can help out.

If you want to help with PFA events, School banking, Book club or Breakfast Club you would need to have given a copy of your Working with Children’s Card to the office and filled out a Code of Conduct Form.   You can get a copy of the Code of Conduct form from the office.

If you have questions or would like to join out the PFA please email p.f.a@oatlandsps.vic.edu.au

Easter Raffle

We will be having our first fundraiser of the year with the Easter Raffle.

More details will be out in the next couple of weeks.

School Banking - Tuesday 25th February

We encourage parents to discuss aspects of financial literacy with your children whether they participate in school banking or not.  The Australian Government ASIC moneysmart website https://moneysmart.gov.au has some great activities and resources for families to look at along with the Bare Foot Investor website.

Children are encouraged to bank weekly, with ‘BANKING TUESDAY’ being the designated day for children to bring along their deposits. Banking commences at 9.00am and deposit books should be given to the office first thing Tuesday mornings. There is no minimum amount, nor maximum amount required to be banked.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED

If your child already has a Youthsaver (Dollarmite) account with the Commonwealth Bank they can simply come along to Banking Tuesday with their deposit book and commence banking.

If your child does not have a Youthsaver (Dollarmite) account but you are a customer of the Commonwealth Bank then you can either apply on-line at www.commbank.com.au or complete an application form available  your local Commonwealth Bank.  Please make sure when applying on-line that you select Oatlands Primary School as the school your child attends.

Non-customers of the Commonwealth Bank will need to complete an application form and have their identity verified.

Bank books

Once you have your bank book please follow the following steps.

1. Complete the bank deposit slip in the yellow book, to enable the deposit to be processed (e.g. Account Name, Account Details, Student ID, Date, Amount of Money on banking slip and bud)

2.  Give the book to your classroom teacher on Tuesday morning for them to send up to the office so the School Banking volunteers can process the book.

3.  Once it has been processed you will receive 1 token per weekly transaction and then they will be sent back through the classroom tubs for the teacher to hand out.

Making a claim for a reward

There will be a parent guide coming out via the classrooms with more information about the rewards that are available in 2020.

1.  Collect 10 tokens.

2.   Fill in the redeeming coupon for the reward and put in your bank book.

3.   The banking team will order it when they do the banking - Ordering the reward may take a few weeks to come in.

4.  Once the reward has arrived it will be put in the classroom tub and handed out by the classroom teacher.

The tokens are recorded by the Commonwealth Bank on the banking portal each time a transaction is done and can only be redeemed if there is 10 recorded tokens. Unfortunately if you give us 10 tokens and the system shows a lower amount we cannot process it.  Tokens cannot be shared between students. You can  get the Commbank Youth App which allows you to see all transactions and rewards.

If you have any questions at all throughout the year please leave a message with the office or alternatively place a note in the bank book and we will get back to as soon as we can.

 Thank you for your support,

 PFA/School Banking team

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club runs every Friday morning from 8.10am to 8.45am in the gym foyer by parent/grandparent volunteers and school staff. Students who attend are provided with a breakfast of toast (spread of vegemite or jam), cereal and a cup of warm Milo. The program is free of charge and all students are welcome to attend. Students are required to sign themselves in on arrival and then must remain inside the gym foyer until 8:45am.

To ensure the continuing success of the program we are seeking:

  • Donations of bread, vegemite, jam, milo, butter/margarine and long life milk - these can be brought to breakfast club or left at school office for breakfast club.
