Story of Buninyong

Story of Buninyong Performance

Student Quotes

"This term I have learnt about Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. There is a story for most Australian animals and humans and they explain something that was created like the fight between Mt Elephant and Mt Buninyong. The  lesson in my Dreamtime story is to tell the truth and if you lie you will get in more trouble then if you tell the truth. I liked performing in Story of Buninyong because I like dancing and it was awesome and fun because you got to dance with your friends and have your family come and watch you". - Millie

"I have learnt that Dreamtime stories have a lesson. Like listen to your parents! Doing the show was fun because we got to dress up and show our magpie moves". - Harvey

"When we were performing it was scary. But while we were dancing it was amazing. Everyone clapped along and were really enjoying it. It was really fun performing because we had the band playing the coolest music.  I’ve learnt that Dreamtime stories are special stories to tell to your young and they have a lesson eg.(don’t steal). My lesson in my dream time story was don’t be greedy". - Meg

"It was really fun doing Story of Buninyong for everyone because it was a new experience! Dreamtime stories can have a lesson and it helps everybody to understand what the Aborigines think about creation. My story was how the quokka came to be and the lesson is don't judge people by how they look". - Bronte

"Performing the Story of Buninyong was so exciting but it was also scary! It had a great big audience and the Rock-Band was awesome! We have learned heaps about Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. Like: they have a moral, it has Aussie animals and also explains how or why that animal or landmark was made! My lesson in my Dreamtime story is don’t think your the best at everything". - Heidi
