Principal's Report

Principle Report

As Term 2 comes to a close, it is a good time to look back on the work that has been performed to promote an engaging learning culture across both campuses. Much of the work has required parental support, which we are most grateful for. Our recent Parent Teacher Interviews and 3 Way Conversations provided an ideal platform to look back on what has been achieved and to plan ahead for future learning growth. Thanks to all the parents who have taken the time to attend these very important sessions.

Below is an indication of some of the work that has been completed this term:

  • A successful camping program for Year 5 to Halls Gap.

Completing our School Review Process

In addition to all of the wonderful learning opportunities in Term 3, all staff have worked exceedingly hard to assist in completing our school review. The school review is one that all schools undertake every 4 years to assist in evaluating the impact of school programs and initiatives.

It is pleasing to report that this review has been completed and we are currently waiting on our final report.  The preliminary feedback has been extremely positive, highlighting many strength areas for celebration. Areas of celebration include:

  • Teaching and support staff at both campuses being dedicated and focussed on building relationships with students and strong teaching teams.
  • Excellent processes in place to build consistent practice across the school in the area of Maths.
  • Processes to support strong reading development are present and are sequential throughout the school.
  • The learning environments are calm and orderly, promoting student learning.
  • The staff, students and families of Buninyong PS (both Scotsburn and Buninyong campuses) have great pride in the school and the work they are doing.
  • Students are empowered to direct elements of their learning.

Of course these are just a few of the observations made and we look forward to receiving the full report soon. Special thanks to those members of the school community who formed part of the parent focus groups, to our school councillors who took part in the School Council focus group and particular thanks to Graeme Benn (School Council President) who took considerable time away from his work to be part of the review process.

35 Years of Wonderful Service to Education

This week, one of our wonderful teachers, Helen Arts, was rewarded with recognition for 35 years of service to education. Helen started her teaching career in Robinvale, which is in the state's north back in 1983 and has since worked at 8 other primary schools including Buninyong. Helen joined Buninyong as an Art teacher in 1991 and has been able to have an impact with students at every level across the school ….. quite an effort!

We would like to congratulate Helen on a wonderful achievement and thank her for the service she has provided Buninyong PS and all the other schools that have been lucky enough to have her.

Today our school leaders caught up with Mrs Arts to record the following interview.

PREP ENROLMENTS FOR 2020

If you have a child going into prep for 2020, could you please get the enrolment form in as soon as possible.  To help with our organisation, we’d like all of these in by the end of term.
