Futures Program

Futures News

What another amazing round of Futures rotations we have had! The most recent round of the Futures Program wrapped up on Wednesday July 17.

Congratulations to our Futures Awards winners for our third rotation! These amazing students have displayed our Brookside values of rights, respect, resilience or relationships through the completion of their units.

They are all the recipients of a Coles/Myer voucher to thank them for their amazing contributions to our program!

As program leader I cannot express how valuable, important and cherished the Futures Program has quickly become amongst our Year 9 cohort. After three successful rotations, the students are really thriving in the program and achieving some incredible things.

Remember if you ever have any questions about the Futures Program or any of the units involved in our timetable, you can contact me at the College and I will be happy to have a chat with you.

Brookside Service – What Futures is All About!

As you would have read from Seral Fehmi’s update, 9A have done an incredible job in our very first unit of Brookside Service to run in our Futures Program. I want to thank Seral and 9A for their tireless effort in really getting the most of their six week project for such an incredible cause.

I am excited to say that you will see more of 9A’s Brookside Service rotation in their upcoming documentary they are filming about their project through their Create unit! This will be up on our YouTube channel by the end of Term 3.

We are excited to see what our other Year 9 classes come up with through their upcoming rotations of the Brookside Service unit!

Seminar “Heroes” Day

Last Wednesday 24 July, we travelled to the Reach Foundation in Collingwood to celebrate another successful rotation through the Futures program. Students spent the day in workshops with Reach Foundation staff and explored how to slay their inner dragons and push through the obstacles and difficulties of life.

Our Brookside students did us proud on the day and some very brave students got up on a stage in front of 400 other youth and shared their personal struggles and stories. It was truly inspiring to see our students open up and show that much courage in front of so many people.

We look forward to our next Seminar Day on Wednesday September 11 – more details on this to come!

Current Rotation Calendar
