Prep/1SG

The children in Prep/One have been learning all about length in school. They have been using concrete materials such as cubes and icy pole sticks to measure the length of various objects around our classroom. They have played many games with measurement and had fun measuring how tall their friends are and putting themselves in order from tallest to shortest and vice versa. They made predictions about how long their feet were, and took off their shoes to measure and compare their findings.

The children have also been learning about centimetres and used rulers to draw lines of varying length. The children designed their own houses and measured the length of each side using a ruler. They have enjoyed used Lego to make buildings of varying heights and used correct mathematical language to describe all of the buildings in our Lego city!
