Principal's Report

26th June 2020

TERM 2 THANK YOU

This year has certainly been like no other school year in Victoria’s history. We should be very happy to celebrate that the majority of children have now returned to school and our school community is coming together again, albeit not the same as it was and with the added responsibility of doing many things slightly differently than what we would normally do. I cannot express how proud I am of all of our staff, students and families and the manner in which we have worked together, helped each other and ensured we practice the hygiene and physical distancing expectations required during this challenging time.

It appears, at this stage, that these social restrictions might increase rather than decrease over the school holidays. This is unfortunate for families looking to escape for a short break or hoping to catch up with families and friends. I hope you still get a chance to take some time off to relax over the next few weeks.

As always, we will continue to update our school community regularly. Please check Compass regularly for updates,  such as the Term 3 Update #1 posted recently about operations around the school next term.

Thank you all again everyone!

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Interviews this week were obviously very different via WebEx but very successful all the same. Thank you to everyone, staff and teachers for adapting so quickly to this new platform. The next interviews will be in the last week of Term 3, at this stage still likely via WebEx and will focus on progress in Term 3 and future learning growth for the rest of the year.

TERM 3 RETURN DATE

Term 3 starts back on Monday 13th July. Pick up and drop off times and arrangements will remain the same as they were at the end of Term 2.

TERM 3 YEAR LEVEL NEWSLETTERS

Year level newsletters, outlining what subjects and areas will be taught next term in each year level, will be available early next term on Compass.

LEARNING FROM HOME SURVEYS

Thank you to all the parents who took the time to complete the learning from home survey. I will publish the results next term. We also asked students in Year 4-6 to complete a survey about their learning from home experience as well. These results help us to continue to improve the school and look at introducing some positive changes as a result of what we have learnt during remote learning.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

A reminder of maintaining social distancing when dropping o students or waiting for them after school. We must be vigilant and take care of each other by making sure we all take responsibility for social distancing around the school.

Stay safe and well,

Michael Ramsey
