We Cannot Wait to Have You Back at School

Working from home has certainly been a challenge for students, parents and teachers alike. It is wonderful to see everyone managing the changing circumstances.

We are all missing seeing the children in the classroom and at school! Thank you to all the parents for your ongoing support with the home learning process. There have been many heart-warming stories of parents who are getting an insight into their child’s thinking and learning needs. It is not easy for parents working and juggling the demands of home learning.

Teachers are constantly adjusting tasks to find the right balance between covering the curriculum and assessments, and meeting the needs of all families during this time. If at any time the work load is overwhelming for your child, please ensure that you have spoken with the teachers and make choices to suit your needs. Mental and emotional wellbeing is just as important as academic learning.

Reminder: Assessment Tasks

If an assessment task has been set for students, it is extremely important that parents do not help with the task, to ensure that an accurate assessment and feedback can be given. Otherwise, results reported may not reflect a true picture of a child’s academic level. Thank you for your understanding of the assessment and reporting process.

Prep Highlights

by Gemma Jackson

Last week, the Preps were busy in the kitchen. Our word of the week was ‘jam’ and as part of their language experience, students made delicious jam toast. During the week, the Preps wrote about whether they liked it or not. It seemed that the most popular jam was strawberry.

During reading the Preps explored the story ‘I Love Chickens’. They ended up back in the kitchen cooking delicious eggs. They might all turn into chefs!

The Preps have done a fantastic job at joining into Zoom lessons and completing their work at home. Keep up the good work!

Year 1 and Year 2

by Hannah Petterson

We are halfway through the term and home learning is in full swing. The Year 1 and Year 2 students have been working hard with their learning and should be so proud of their efforts. It has also been nice to see other fun activities that students have been up to. Keep up the great work and the beautiful smiles!

4A Integrated  Studies

This week 4A became space engineers and looked at how forces push against each other. They watched astronauts conduct experiments in space and the students created balloon rockets.

4M at Kitchen Garden

It is wonderful to see many students developing their cooking skills through their Kitchen Garden lessons.

George S in 4M cooked his family a delicious pumpkin soup. Great cooking skills George!

Year 3 Writing Task

As a writing task, Year 3 students were required to modify the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. Please see attachment below.

Year 5 and Year 6

by Nigel Keegan

Our Year 5 and Year 6 students continue to engage well with their daily home learning tasks. We are now well into Term 2 units of study across various subjects, including narrative writing, AusQuest Challenge in Year 5, Pathway to Federation in Year 6K and Geography in Year 6C, and Fractions and Decimals in both year levels. Teachers have commenced or are about to commence Term 2 Assessments which are a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their progress with their learning.
