Dunhelen Home Learning

We are halfway into Term 2 and while things may be different, I am pleased to say that the learning is still happening. I have been fortunate enough to see what home learning looks like for a variety of subjects and must say I am quite impressed with some of the work. Well done, Dunhelen!

Please have a look at some of examples of the Dunhelen work. This collection contains work for Drama, Maths, History, Food Technology, Science, Physical Education and Life Skills.

I am sure that you will agree that with dedication and perseverance, learning is still happening. At this stage, Dunhelen students will be back at school on Tuesday 9 June. In the interim, it is still important that they continue to work and do the best they can. Work that students are completing now is work that they would have been completing at school. It will in some cases be reflected in their end of semester report. Once we resume school on site, students will be continuing and building on what they have learnt during the Home Learning period.

Dunhelen Assembly

I must also thank the Dunhelen students for their attendance at Assembly. It is so pleasing to see them come into Assembly and pay attention. This week our School Captains, Kaylah D and Jack W, presented Assembly. They presented a ‘Kahoot’ quiz about student perspective on home learning. Jack and Kaylah discussed with the other Dunhelen Captains what tricks and tips they could pass on to all of Dunhelen. The results from this week’s quiz and the information gleaned from Captains will be shared at next week’s Assembly along with what to do and what not to do.

Dunhelen Chapel

I remind families and students to also make the time to log into our weekly Chapel sessions. Rev. Vaughn continues to deliver Chapel sessions to us; these are always important, but maybe more so in these trying times. Students go into My Aitken, Secondary Curriculum, go to Chapel and Assembly, click the correct date at the side and they will be directed to a link for clickview.

Student Absences

If your child is ill and not able to complete work while at home, please call the Dunhelen Administration so that the rolls can reflect this. Without notification, students will be marked as absent without leave.
