Senior School

This is the beginning of the end of the great lockdown of 2020!

We all welcome the news that students (and teachers) will be returning to school soon. We look forward to welcoming Year 11 and Year 12 students on Tuesday 26 May, followed by Year 10 students on Tuesday 9 June.

Although we are returning to on-site learning, the threat of COVID-19 is still present and we will have to modify our behaviours and procedures for some time, still. I will be writing to parents and students with more detail of new procedures soon. These are a few of the things we will be implementing in the short term:

  • Parent-teacher contact will continue to be remote (Zoom, phone or email).
  • The canteen will only be open for lunch orders. Monitors will deliver these to Common Room 2 (Year 12) and Common Room 1 (Year 11).
  • Desks in classrooms and tables in Common Rooms will be placed to maximize social distancing and must not be moved.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available and extra hand washing stations are being installed.
  • Student dismissal will be modified to avoid congregation in the corridors.

Mid-Year Exams

Mid-year exams will now take place on campus; the exams will be delivered in a combination of paper and electronic formats. Exams will be reduced in length to 60 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes time for downloading, reading and uploading. This is necessary to allow for the small possibility of a return to home learning before the exam period.

I will be writing to students and parents with more details of exam times and procedures early next week.
