Principal's Message

Return to School

It is with excitement we look forward to the onsite return of students in stages commencing on Tuesday 26 May. The transition back to school and new protocols in order to focus on safety and wellbeing will take some adjustment by students, staff and families. It will be great to hear the sounds of young people's chatter and interactions in the school grounds. I have been so impressed by the way all in our community have adapted to new ways of learning and the resilience shown. Wellbeing will be an important focus on return and as part of this, there will be some work done by Homeroom teachers and the Heads of Schools, Heads of House and the Assistant Heads of Schools with the students. What will be key is the importance of respectful interactions in not only actions but personal space.

The staff of the College would like to thank parents and guardians for their support in these challenging times, particularly with enabling the learning for students to continue. It has been a true school and parent partnership.

Once students have settled into a school routine, the Heads of School will provide some virtual drop-in information sessions for parents who wish to connect with each other in this kind of forum.

Enrolments for Prep 2021 and Year 7 2022

Interviews for prospective Prep 2021 enrolments are currently being conducted with offers to go out in mid-June. The process for Year 7 2022 has just begun. Parents are reminded to ensure that enrolment applications are completed for all siblings. Sometimes this is forgotten.

Mother's Day

Last weekend we celebrated a different kind of Mother's Day, but I am sure that there was the same love, care and joy for Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts and Guardians. One of the outcomes of these times is perhaps the simplicity of how we are able to celebrate what we have.

Feedback from families on the snippets of College life through our Facebook page has been extremely positive. It is a great way of quickly providing you with news about relevant activities and events.

Six Little Things You Can Do for Your Wellbeing Every Day

The Heads of School would like to highlight important wellbeing information for families. Try these six small things that can have a big influence on your mental health:

  1. Go for a morning walk. Even if it means getting up slightly earlier. Fresh air and movement have physical and emotional benefits and can help set a positive mindset for the day.
  2. Read because you want to. Reading can calm the mind, help you to relax, keep your imagination alive, and can exercise your mind. Make time for reading and lose track of time.
  3. Get creative in the kitchen. Rather than it being a chore, have fun in the kitchen. Find a good recipe and get inspired.
  4. Address your posture. Excessive sitting can be harmful to your health and posture. Get up, stretch and walk every 30 minutes. You will feel much better for it.
  5. Listen to podcasts. Take your mind off things by listening to a podcast. Follow your passions, learn something new or just have a laugh. Laughing is a great way to de-stress and relieve tension.
  6. Box breathing. Try this technique anytime to calm your soul. Start with a slow inhale to the count of four, hold for the count of four, exhale for four, hold for four…and repeat.
