Felix Esperson, a recent graduate of the DP at Preshil and current undergraduate at The University of Melbourne (who has already secured a place under their Masters of Data Science), last week coached our DP HL Computer Science class of 2020. Felix led (over zoom) our HL students through challenges specifically created to target some of the tougher paper one style pseudocode questions - tips & tricks were appreciated by all and it was great to see a familiar face!

Music

by Karoline Kuti

Music Coordinator

The recent digital performances from both the Cello Ensemble and Preshil Strings were a huge collaborative effort. Musicians met weekly via zoom to discuss and practise their parts during the first few weeks of lockdown. I created a guide track, which included Atilla and I recording all the parts so that everyone could hear what they were playing, set to a click. Once the musicians received the guide track they had to set themselves up with a computer and headphones to be able to hear the track and a phone to be able to record themselves with.

Once they had individually recorded their performance and uploaded the file to a Google folder I, along with the generous help of Dante Kuti, spent hours editing the videos together to create the digital performances. We all hope these will bring a smile to everyone’s faces and reassurance that our music community is thriving.

The Art Department has been striving to make a unique and practical home learning experience for all students; constructing and distributing lino cutting boards and tools for the Year 10s, while delivering online tutorials; for the Year 7s we have just made up individual embroidery packages that are on their way in the mail. Have fun creating!
