Return to School

It was wonderful to see some of our students back at school this week. We have missed them! As you know, Dunhelen students will commence on Tuesday 9 June. For next week, they should continue to work from home as they have been. They have been doing a great job.

Return to School Reminders

You would have previously received an email from Mr Forward regarding our return to school. Please do read this carefully. I would like to reiterate a few points:

  • Parents should not leave their car to come on site.
  • Please supply your child with hand sanitiser and speak to them about the importance of using it and washing their hands regularly.
  • Please speak to your child about the importance of maintaining social distancing.
  • Students will not be able to use the bubble taps. Please ensure that they have a bottle of water with them every day.
  • The canteen will have no over-the-counter service, so students should be bringing their lunch and snacks every day or ordering online.
  • If your child is ill, even just with sniffles, please keep them home. This is for your child’s wellbeing, also.
  • Your child may want to wear another layer of clothing under their uniform (not to be visible) as it will be cold and, while heaters will be on, teachers will be leaving either doors or windows ajar for ventilation.
  • If you would like to meet with a teacher, you can call the school to arrange a phone meeting or Zoom meeting.

Students may be a little anxious about returning to school (or even the pandemic). Please make sure that you are a calm and supportive role model for them. Children will ‘feed’ off their parents and so it is very important that we all view the return to school as the positive it is. The College has put many things in place to minimise risk and therefore students should feel safe coming back to school.

If you feel your child needs extra support you can contact the College and we can refer them to one of our Counsellors. Alternatively, you can visit the Kids Helpline Website at https://kidshelpline.com.au/, Headspace at https://headspace.org.au/ or Be You (delivered by Beyond Blue) at https://beyou.edu.au/.

PE Uniform

A reminder about PE uniform. Students can come to school in PE uniform on days that they have PE. In Terms 2 and 3, students must have the Aitken rugby top and track pants. Students can wear their shorts under their track pants if they prefer to do PE in shorts; however, at all other times in Terms 2 and 3 the track pants must be worn. Students not participating in PE must have a note with a valid reason and must be in correct school uniform, not PE uniform.

Keep up with Home Learning

We look forward to welcoming back the Dunhelen students. Please ensure that they continue to keep up with Home Learning so that they are ready to go on once they are back in the classroom.
