House Lip Sync Battle
The Performing Arts Captains will be hosting a House Lip Sync Battle competition for students/families during lockdown on the evening of Monday 1 June from 7pm. You may have seen some of the videos on social media of families choreographing their own lip sync performance in their living room, kitchen, backyard or taking out their bins. This Monday it will be Aitken’s turn to show our lip-syncing and dancing talents.
Please join us by following the LINK to the Zoom session but please keep cameras and microphones switched off.
Virtual Play Reading
We have now conducted two Zoom Play Readings, providing Performing Arts students with a project to keep them busy and our community some entertainment during this lockdown period.
Our first, 'Exit the King' featured six students while earlier this week, 'Two Weeks with the Queen' involved ten students who gave up their time to practise a script, create characters and find costumes.
Thank you to Max H, Filipe F, India L, Sanna D, Isabelle D, Lewis M, Sean B, Sophie C, Anson N, Jasmine E and Spencer C.
We are planning one more reading on Monday 15 June with the script selection still be to be made. Details and a link for audience will be posted in the daily school bulletin. Anyone interested in being involved in future readings is invited to get in touch with Mr Cooper.
Private Instrumental Lessons
Applications are now available to start private lessons in Term 3. Music lessons enrich a child’s learning and overall wellbeing. Over time, learning an instrument or singing has been shown to develop stronger neurolinguistic pathways in the brain and support learning across all subject areas. Application forms need to be completed and submitted by Friday 5 June.
Details and enrolment forms are available at:

VCE Theatre Studies Play
The Year 12 students were thrilled to return this week to work towards the performances of their major production. The play would have originally ended this afternoon, but the pandemic necessitated a move to the end of July.
'Eurydice' retells the myth of Orpheus from the perspective of his wife. The story focuses on Eurydice's choice to return to Earth with Orpheus or to stay in the Underworld with her father. The stage designs that the Year 12 students have been developing will be like nothing we have seen before at Aitken.
The play is a nice 90-minute show, without an interval, and opens on Wednesday 29 July. There will be three performances. Bookings can be made from Monday 15 June by visiting TryBooking.
VET Music Performance
Our music students are so happy to be back and have completely missed the opportunity to perform. Much of their assessment relates directly to performances. So we have decided to schedule a short music concert on Wednesday 10 June from 4pm which can be viewed from home via a live stream. Many of our Year 12 and some of our Year 11 Music students will present a piece of work from their repertoire in a one hour concert, live from the Chapel and Performing Arts Centre. Join us by using the link available next week in the daily bulletin.
