Religious Dimension
Welcome to Week 7
Gospel reading on Sunday 20 August Matthew 15: 21-28
This scripture reminds me of the faith that we need to help us overcome life's obstacles. A lady begged Jesus for her daughter to be healed, even though she was a Gentile.
Jesus and the disciples were looking for a place to pray as the concern for Jesus' ministry became more heightened and John the Baptist had been beheaded. It was a time of insecurity. Jesus listened to the ladies plea for help for her daughter. Her humility, persistence and faith were acknowledged and Jesus healed her daughter.
Faith is a powerful force, it changes things. It provides a way when there is no answer. It can turn a 'no' into a 'yes'.
We give thanks that we can help others, turning little faith into belief and purpose.
Each day we can be reminded that through the gift of the Holy Spirit we can keep asking God for answers when things aren't quite clear.
Year 6 Confirmation 2023
On Saturday 12 August our Year 6 students received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. John's Church. We had a wonderful ceremony with Father Dispin and Bishop Les guiding our students and sponsors through the sacred moments of the mass while students renewed their Baptismal promise.
So what does this mean for our students now? We continue to pray that their gifts from the Holy Spirit will be used to help them serve others. Our students chose a saint's name for their Confirmation so that they can look to what they did in their lives as an example.
As a community of believers our teachers and families will continue to pray that they work towards using their gifts each day.
I will be sharing the photos from our Confirmation celebration later this week.
