Angles in 5/6!

The 5/6s have been exploring the intricate details of how to identify and measure different types of angles. Our students have progressed to accurately drawing their own fractions and measuring them. This challenge has promoted our students’ estimation skills, as well as their ability to strive for accuracy as they had to measure their angles within 2 degrees of the correct answer! In the photo shown, some of our students embarked on an ‘Angles Hunt’. Masking tape was used to produce an assortment of angles. Students were required to measure and identify the type of angle. This then progressed to a hunt to find a specific angle that was requested.

In our last few maths sessions, the 5/6 students were introduced to complementary and supplementary angles. This required students to use their mental addition and subtraction skills to find the corresponding unknown angle. Students then checked their responses by physically measuring the angles.

We have had a great time learning angles!
