INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

DISCO BINGO

What a great night was had by all last Saturday night at Disco Bingo. It was terrific to see so many parents and carers there, and especially wonderful to see the two tables of prep parents. We couldn’t have kicked the night off any better, with an incredible win by the Matildas. It certainly provided the inspiration to raise funds for our new soccer pitch!

A huge THANK YOU to Sarah-Jane for project managing the event so beautifully, supported by an amazing team of parents: Amanda, Louise, Jo, Steve, Sonia and Laura.

Our DJ Michael, gave us some great 90s tunes, and MCs Brian and Freya kept us on track and entertained. Congratulations to Honey who took out best dressed!!!

THANK YOU to our wonderful community for embracing this event. I look forward to hearing what the final tally was for the night!

2024

It feels strange to be talking about next year already but we are certainly beginning to plan for the year ahead. If you have a Prep child starting next year, please complete the enrolment form this week as we will be sending out orientation information shortly. If you know that your family will be leaving South Melbourne Park next year, can you please let us know via the school email: south.melbourne.park.ps@eduction.vic.gov.au

SHRINE TO SEA

The Shrine to Sea (S2S) project will create a boulevard to better connect the iconic Kings Domain Gardens with Port Phillip Bay via Albert and Kerferd roads. This boulevard will create a safer and more enjoyable experience for people to travel from the lush, green gardens in the heart of the city to the historically significant Kerferd Road Pier on our beloved bay. It will bring the local history, stories, and culture to life, for all residents and visitors to celebrate.

The vision for the boulevard reflects the history and the ever-changing nature of this landscape, and the people that have shaped the area and call it home. The story of this area has ancient connections for the Traditional Owners of the Kulin nation, with the form of the land shaping their life, culture, and activity. In honouring this connection and bringing aboriginal language back onto Country, the S2S boulevard will be known in future as the Yannawatpanhanna, meaning ‘go to water’ in the Boon Wurrung language of the Bunurong people. This name has been determined by the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation. Take a look at the Shrine to Sea Draft Masterplan which will encompass the green space and pathways in front of South Melbourne Park Primary School and take this final opportunity to provide feedback.
