Waste-Free Lunch Challenge

Hi we're Matilda and Lola and we’re the Sustainability Captains of 2023! We are encouraging students and staff at Wembley Primary School to try to reduce their use of plastics by holding a Waste-Free Lunch Challenge on Thursday 27 July. 

On this day students are encouraged to bring a lunch to school that contains as few items as possible that must be thrown away, such as plastic packaging. Ideally, on this day students' lunches will only contain items that can be eaten, composted or recycled.

The Waste-Free Lunch Challenge is one of Wembley's sustainability education initiatives. By participating, students will have a better understanding of how we can take action to reduce our waste. Waste-free lunches also save money and promote healthy eating.

On Thursday 27 July, Year 6 Captains will come around to classrooms to count the plastic free lunch boxes. We are looking for the classes with the best effort and least plastic.
