Dance Workshop at Parkwood Green Primary School

We are thrilled to share the success story of a dance workshop held recently at Parkwood Green Primary school, led by their dance teacher Taylor Van Orsouw, alongside four of our exceptionally talented dance students, Emma Hackney, Chloe Kendjer, Aydin Kendjer, and Isabella Corso. The workshop was a unique opportunity for our students to work closely with our neighbouring primary school and share their passion for dance with the young learners.

Emma, Chloe, Aydin, and Isabella are all products of our school's dance program, having honed their skills and passion for dance under the guidance of Taylor. Their involvement in the performing arts program to leading a workshop for students at Parkwood Green is an inspiring testament to the importance of nurturing artistic talents and supporting one another within our school community.

The dance workshop was met with tremendous enthusiasm from both the Parkwood Green staff and students. Our dance students were warmly welcomed by the students, creating an instant connection, and setting the stage for a memorable learning experience.

Our gratitude goes out to Taylor for her dedication in facilitating and running the workshop and to Emma Hackney, Chloe Kendjer, Aydin Kendjer, and Isabella Corso for their exceptional leadership during the event. Their commitment to teaching the students and sharing their talent reflects the values we strive to instill in our students at Copperfield College.

We would also like to extend our thanks to Parkwood Green Primary School for graciously hosting the workshop at their school and providing a nurturing environment for our students to inspire and connect with the young learners.

As we continue to foster a supportive and creative environment for our students, we look forward to more opportunities like this for our students at neighbouring primary schools, where our students can inspire and enrich the lives of others through dance.

Do you know what shodo is?

Shodo (calligraphy) is a beautiful form of art from Japan. It's all about writing in a unique way using brushes and ink. Each stroke is like a work of art, expressing feelings and emotions. It's a mindful and creative practice that connects with Japanese culture.

During the last term, 7E4 Japanese students had the incredible opportunity to try shodo for the first time. They explored the art of writing the Japanese character かぞく (kazoku), which means "family." This tied perfectly with their unit topic of "family" in Term 2, making their shodo experience even more meaningful.

Through shodo, the students learned to be mindful and creative, focusing on every stroke. It was a fantastic way for them to embrace Japanese culture and express their creativity in a whole new way.We are proud of our 7E4 students' amazing shodo work!
