Year 9 Japanese Speech Competition

We are delighted to share the success of our talented Year 9 students who participated in the recent Year 9 Japanese Speech Competition held at Delahey Campus on June 21.

The event provided a platform for our students to showcase their remarkable Japanese language skills and present their milestones. It was an incredible experience that allowed them to shine and helped them gain confidence through active participation.

The competition brought together students from different campuses, and it was heart-warming to witness the dedication and hard work they put into their speeches. Each participant spoke passionately about their milestones, sharing their journeys and experiences while impressively employing their language proficiency.

Seeing our students embrace and appreciate the richness of Japanese culture and language was inspiring, displaying their deep respect for their Japanese counterparts.

International Student Snow Day - 2023

International students celebrated snow season by visiting Lake Mountain resorts and had a fantastic day. This is the first trip of Copperfield College back to Victorian high country after COVID years. The cloudy and rather warm day did not dampen the enthusiasm of students. As usual tobogganing was always a significant part of the trip which everyone can enjoy. It is real fun to swiftly slide along the toboggan run and for some first timers it is challenging.

It is definitely an awesome experience.

Y11 Maths Games Day

On Wednesday 26 July, eight Copperfield year eleven students travelled to RMIT to compete in the 2023 Mathematics Association of Victoria Y11/12 Maths Games Day.

Our teams, which consisted of Kabeer Ali, Declan Burt, Luke Galea, Tien Nguyen, Tan Nguyen, Arnav Ramasre, Sehaj Singh, and Brandon Tran, went up against top students from 30 schools around Melbourne and Victoria. Over the course of the day, the students brought their formidable mathematical powers to bear on a suite of problems fiendish enough to puzzle even the most experienced of maths teachers. Drawing on all their creative problem solving and logical thinking skills, the teams battled to score points in individual rounds, head-to-head contests, and relays.

As well as testing their mathematical mettle, students had the chance to hear from RMIT University students and lecturers about university life and the opportunities available in mathematics beyond school. They also enjoyed meeting like-minded students from other schools.

One of our two teams finished in the top ten for the day. This is a terrific achievement for our students, who were competing against some of the brightest mathematical minds in the state.

All eight students who competed should be incredibly proud of their efforts. They showed great focus, dedication, resilience, and teamwork, and represented Copperfield admirably. No doubt these students have many more sparkling mathematical achievements ahead of them.
