Prayer

"Listen to what the Spirit is saying."

Acknowledgment of Country

We turn our hearts and minds to the people of the Yorta Yorta nation, who have occupied this country for thousands of years.

We pay respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and commit to walking alongside Aboriginal Australians in truth and justice.

World Youth Day

What is it?

World Youth Day is an international event, organised by the Catholic Church, focusing on religious faith and youth. It is a celebration of the Catholic faith and is extended to all youth between the ages of 16 and 35. WYD was initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1984.

Youth from all over the world gather and celebrate the event every three years at different locations.

Mrs Small and I are very fortunate to have this opportunity to attend the 2023 WYD in  Lisbon, Portugal. The last 3 months we have been preparing and participating in formation sessions with the other 35 Sandhurst Pilgrims. We are very excited to embark on our journey this Saturday and we look forward to our return and sharing our experiences with the community of St Luke’s.
