Primary Sub-School News

Rachael Macmillan

There has been a lot of exciting activities happening in the Primary Sub School recently.

Rooms 1 and 2 have been to the Kinder Gym Program, which will continue every Monday. This program supports our students to develop strength, flexibility, coordination and balance all while having fun.

The "Yummy Bites" therapy program gradually supports students to feel comfortable with different foods. Students are really enjoying exploring foods through touching, smelling and sometimes tasting a variety of foods.

It is great to see classrooms getting out and about in the community and attending excursions. This is a valuable experience for students to learn to follow instructions, stay with their group and of course, see exciting new places.

Our therapy visiting dog "George" continues to make an appearance every Thursday. Our students have been fantastic at following a schedule and waiting for their turn to pet George.

If you have any questions about these programs, please contact your child's teacher in the student diary, via the Seesaw app, or email. As always, you can also contact me for any queries you may have.

Room 2

Room 2 have settled in after the school holidays and are having a fantastic third term. They have continued to enjoy forming friendships by interacting with their peers in social play activities. Room 2 have become independent at following morning circle, completing daily tasks around the classroom and working on their numeracy and literacy tubs.

This term Room 2 have done a great job following instructions at kinder gym, practising for the upcoming school concert and interacting with the canine in the canine comprehension program. Room 2 have enjoyed learning about day and night as part of the science curriculum, exploring their feelings in the personal and social curriculum and using their 5 senses to engage in food play in the yummy bites program run by our therapy team.

We have continued to spend time in the kids kitchen, school garden and new OT room. All the staff in Room 2 are proud of how hard all students have been working and are excited to see what they can achieve for the rest of the year.
