Dear Parents/Carers,

JSA Careers Expo

Last Thursday, 27th July (from 3-6 pm), we held our annual JSA Careers Expo for our families to begin planning for both their child's upcoming VET or SBAT programs or future post school options after Year 12 Graduation.

The event was generously sponsored by the team at Catalyst. It was very well attended with over 50 of our students, siblings and their parents/carers coming along.

It comprised of 13 exhibitors from a range of day services, TAFE providers, from around our area that have ongoing parternships with our school over many years. Door prizes, delicious catering and refreshments were provided.

Secondary Parent Information Night

On Thursday August 17th (from 6-7:30pm), we will be holding our Secondary Parent Informaton Night. It is a great opportunity for all JSA families to come along to better understand what we can offer your children as they progress from the early years into the senior years of their education here at JSA.

We will have Di Jensen, from the Head Start program, who will be discussing the growing opportunities for our students to undertake work experience, traineeships/apprenticeships based on their skills, interests and desire to enter the workplace.  She works in close partnership with Karen Glare, our Community Engagement Officer, who supports all of our senior secondary students to plan their careers including VET/SBAT, work experience and plans beyond Year 12 at JSA. We are one of 8 specialist settings she works with in the area and we are proud to have her working closely with our team.

We will also have Helen Capuano, our 2024 VET Hospitality Teacher, who is keen to discuss this new and exciting onsite VET program for our students. She is highly qualified in this field and conducting our highly-engaging Hands On Learning Cafe Program this year.

The presentation should take up to one hour with 30 minutes left for you to be able to ask questions to those visitors and staff in attendance based on your children's needs.

We will be seeking parents/carers to provide an RSVP to Karen Glare no later than Monday, 14th August. Please email her: Karen.Glare@education.vic.gov.au
