NEWS & ADMINISTRATION

Mrs Caroline Galea

This week we were able to celebrate Grandparents day. Traditionally this is the feast of St. Anne and St. Joachim which are Mary's mother and father (Jesus' grandparents).  It was beautiful to see the amount of  grandparents, special friends and family that were able to present on the day.  I hope everyone enjoyed completing  activities with their grandparents.

To make the day even more special, our Prep children celebrated 100 days of being at school.  It was wonderful to see the children and staff dress up and celebrate this magical day.

Eddie's Backpack

This week our Year 6 children went to Parade college to take part in packing backpacks for children who need to go into foster care.  It was a good experience for the children to see that not everyone is as fortunate as themselves and that their small action can make a big difference to someone else.  Moving forward, Holy Name will be contributing to this worthy cause by assisting Parade college in purchasing items for these backpacks.

Sushi Day  Monday 21st August

By now your child should have brought home a sushi day order form. If you would like your child to have sushi for lunch, the form together with payment needs to be made by Monday 14th August.  Payments can be made via cash, credit card or eftpos (either in person or over the phone).

Book Week

Book Week at Holy Name will be taking place from Monday 21st August. The theme for this year's is Read, Grow, Inspire. This open theme can see the children dress up in either their favourite book character, a book that has helped them grow somehow or a book/character which has inspired them. The Book Week parade will be held on Wednesday 23rd August from 9am-10am. Toddlers are also encouraged to dress up.

Possible Car Show

Last Wednesday, we had our first online meeting with our car show committee.  If this is something that you are interested in participating in, please let Caroline or Derryn know.

School Disco

Don't forget to purchase your tickets for the Holy Name Disco on Friday 25th August.   This is a wonderful opportunity for children in any level to come back to school from

5:00-7:00 pm and have a bit of fun.

Tickets must be purchased for this event and will be on sale until August 17th (as pizza orders need to be put through).

You can pay by cash, eftpos or credit card only (either in person or over the phone).

Ticket price per student of $15 includes:

*entry

*one slice of Margherita pizza

*one juice box

*one glow stick

Extra slices of Margherita Pizza and juice boxes will be available for sale along with popcorn and lolly bags (prices to be advertised closer to the event).

While there will be parents supervising this event, other parents are asked to sign in their child and leave.  We discourage children from bringing mobile phones . If they must be brought to the disco, they will be placed in a snap lock bag with your child's name for safekeeping.

2023 Non-Government Schools Census Collection Notice

Schools are asked to inform parents that the collection notice for the August Census is available to view.  Please see a copy of the notice under today's Community News.

Lost Property Basket

The basket is overflowing with expensive uniform items, mainly woollen jumpers, windcheaters (& even jackets) with no names or names of children long gone from the school.  We return as many items to their owners as we can, but if parents don't name or rename the pieces, there's nothing we can do.

If your child has lost a uniform item, please come and look through the basket in the office corridor, take your item and don't forget to name it.
