STEAM Catch

Students have begun new designs this term with great enthusiasm!

Preps have been investigating the wind and created wind socks to find which direction the wind is blowing and will create pin wheels and kites in the coming weeks.

Grade 1 and 2 have been designing a square for a quilt during their unit on Clothing and Texiles. Their ideas are coming alive from their plans as they create patterns, cut the material to match their patterns and learn to sew around the pictures and sew on buttons and sequins.

Grade 3 and 4 are also looking at Clothing and Texiles and have designed and created a knitting spool. They have learnt to french knit and are currently knitting the icord long enough to crearte a trivet that will hold a hot pot/pan to protect the table or benchtop. They are demonstrating greate persistence and resilience and bgiining to find knitting quite relaxing.

Grade 5 and 6 have been looking at block coding using our brand new Shero Bolts. They will begin following the Design Process to plan out and build a mini golf course hole then program Sphero to get a hole in one avoiding all obstacles.
