Connect: Year 6

Welcome to Science Week and Beyond!

We are right into Term 3 and we can’t tell you enough how happy we are with the progress of the Year 6 students.  They all now know where they are heading in Year 7 and all can be confident that they will settle in well.

Week 5

The Next Fortnight of Learning

Mathematics

In maths in the coming weeks we will be focussing on making connections and converting between fractions, decimals and percentages.

In applied maths, we will be converting and using the correct units of measurement.

 Literacy

In the next couple of weeks we will be looking at Persuasive Writing and determining between fact and opinion.  Hopefully the students will be able to look more closely at all the information that bombards their daily lives- mainly advertising and decide whether what they are hearing and seeing is true or not.

Inquiry

We have started looking at Electricity and Electrical Circuits and building models of houses that have at least two working lights in them.  Already there are plans to include switches, doorbells and even ceiling fans!  Come to the Science Fair and see what incredible houses there are!

Wellbeing

Our Term 2 topic for Resilience Rights and Respectful Relationships is Gender Identity.
