What's happening in our classrooms?

Literacy: We are well and truly in a fairytale land! The students have loved exploring texts with traditional fairytale features. We have used Epic books and other stories to explore what makes fairy tales unique compared to other fiction stories. Using these ideas, we have started planning, drafting and writing narratives. The students have drawn pictures to set the scene and used their senses to help with their descriptive writing. This unit will continue for another fortnight before we move on.

Maths: After exploring 'time' for the past fortnight, the students will be working on their understanding of mapping, area and perimeter. These topics link with our understanding of multiplication which we covered at the beginning of the term. Although we have completed our unit of time with the students for now, this is an important area of learning and can be practised at home. The students particularly focused on the language of 'past' and 'to' the hour.

Inquiry: We officially started our unit of 'Liquids & Solids' this week! The students were very excited to get involved in some experiments just like Professor Bunsen!

When families come to our Science Fair next week, your children will be stepping you through two amazing experiences which demonstrate the change in state of the matter. Each experiment will have a set of instructions which will step you through what you need to do! The afternoon runs from 2:30pm - 4:00pm. Between 2:30pm - 3:15pm you will be able to stay with your child in their room. Once the bell rings at 3:15pm - this is an awesome opportunity to visit other year levels to look at their experiments too!

Well...have a look here! A link!

Here is a sneak peek into the beginning of our fairy tale unit. The students were required to analyse a few different fairy tales and list their elements!

A celebration of learning!

We have been very busy creating, making and greeting families as you can see below!

Firstly a mob of kangaroos!

Then... some amazing letters written by our students. These were inspired by our mentor text 'Dragon Post'...

Next... some amazing flowers with some sneaky multiplication facts created by 2/3C!

AND finally... just some of our beautiful families coming along to learn about our Respectful Relationships program. We really value your time and thank everybody for coming along!

We hope you have a lovely fortnight.
