Welcome Back to Term 4

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Welcome back to Term 4, which is shaping up to be another busy term!

Last week all teaching staff worked with Leadership to review our Reading and Maths data to assist in looking at student growth and determine next steps for individual and groups of students.

Teachers used a range of assessment data including; teacher professional judgement, anecdotal conference and observation notes, Running Records of reading and Department for Education system wide data called PAT M ad PAT R which assesses students maths concepts and Reading Comprehension.

Teachers were very engaged in this process and had deep professional conversations and shared lots of ideas about in supporting our learners to continue their progress this term.

Teachers will now work with every student to set a Reading and Maths goal for this term to work towards. Please ask your child what their goals are at the end of this week and you can support at home by helping them to work towards their goals. As always, please have a chat with your child’s class teacher if you have any questions regarding their learning and learning progress.

End of Year Events

As I outlined in the last Newsletter we will be able to hold end of year events such as End of Year Concert and Graduation that can include parents/carers attending.

We welcome parents/carers attending these important milestone events, however for this to occur and to comply with COVID physical distancing restrictions, these events will look different to previous years and will require RSVPs and possibly restrictions on numbers.

We will be finalising the details over the next few weeks and will keep the community informed. We thank you for your support with this in advance.

Book Week - Curious Creatures, Wild Minds

This week schools around Australia have celebrated Book Week. All classes have been reading the shortlisted award winning new books and participated in lots of fun literacy activities related to the books.

Thursday 22/10 is our annual Community Parade. Students and staff will dress- up in theme or a favourite book character and we will walk on a route around the local community to show off our efforts. We will depart from the school grounds at 11:30am.

We ask that parents please view the parade from vantage points along the route and do not enter the school grounds or stand on the footpath along the route to allow for easy access for all of our students and staff to walk safely.

Governing Council volunteers (wearing high vis vests ) will be stationed along the way to help with safely crossing the few roads we will need to cross.

We look forward to seeing many of you along our Parade route to see the amazing costumes and cheering us all on!

On Friday a South Australian Author, Amanda Graham will visit us. All classes will have a session with her to share her Author and Illustrator tips. We are looking forward to having Amanda visit and inspire us.

Aspiring Artists

Thank you to Mr Stephen Di Girolamo who worked with some of our classes to design posters to be entered into a State wide Fringe Festival Competition.

From hundreds of entries across the state, a top 100 posters were chosen. We have 3 of our students who were selected for the top 100! What an amazing achievement!

Congratulations to Isabella C, Mary-Rose C and Holly BC for their artistic talents in making it to the top 100 entries!
