Assistant Principal News

This Friday we celebrated World Teacher’s Day!

This day is an opportunity for students, parents, support staff and the wider community to thank teachers for all their efforts in caring for, mentoring and expanding the minds of our students. This year in particular has been a challenging one for teachers all around the world with the move from regular learning to online learning and then a mixture of both.As Assistant Principals, we wish to thank all our teachers for their skill, passion, commitment, dedication and resilience in the face of adversity.

Already many students and parents have conveyed messages of gratitude and appreciation to their teachers. If anyone would like to do this for World Teacher’s Day, feel free to email the College at mcc-admin@ww.catholic.edu.au and your message will be forwarded on.

Year 12 students have continued their HSC examinations this week and we are again impressed with the mature and positive way that they have approached this stressful time. A number of students are still completing examinations and the support they have received from both staff and peers has demonstrated the connection that exists within the College community.

Year 11 Semester Two Reports are now available through Compass.

Parents and students can click on the ‘View Academic Reports’ link under the Student Dashboard Profile or click on the ‘Reports’ tab from the Student’s Profile, and then ‘Year 11 Semester Two Reports’. This will download a PDF of the report.

For each subject, teachers have reported on:

·       Commitment to Learning

·       ROSA Grade

·       Commendations and Recommendations

(VET subjects will report on VET competencies and Work Placement Hours instead of a ROSA Grade)

Students should spend time reflecting on their report and results as they finalise changes to their subjects and move into their HSC year.

As such we encourage all parents to have conversations with their children about what they have done well, what they need to improve, how they can do this and how they can support their child.

We also understand that it is vital that these discussions occur with teachers for Year 11 students and parents, and as result, we will be continuing with Year 11 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences – but in a revised format.

Parents and students are invited to participate in our Online Year 11 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences next Monday November 9th 3:45 – 6pm. Parents and students will be able to log into Zoom from home and video conference with their teacher to discuss learning progress and needs.

Parents will still need to book their appointments with teachers via Compass (see our how to guide).

Links to Zoom Meetings will be sent on the day of the interviews.

If anyone has any problems in accessing reports or booking interviews – please contact our IT Helpdesk.
