Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer
We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.
It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.
We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.
Socktober -
Socktober invites schools to engage with mission in a holistic way within the head, heart, hands model: encouraging a learning mind, an open heart and hands for action. The focus for October in World Mission Month is to "Sock it to Poverty" and to help other children in need around the world. Children from the Social Justice Group are coordinating our efforts to collect spare coins to donate to Catholic Mission. A 'crazy sock day' is planned for Friday 30th October.
October - The Month of the Rosary
The month of October each year is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7.
Sacraments update -
Confirmation –
Due to the continued restrictions on Church masses and special services we have reluctantly made the decision to postpone any celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation until 2021. This decision would also hopefully mean that Bishop Shane might be available to confirm our students next year. With the severe restriction on numbers and the prospect of only limited numbers in the near future we were left with little alternative. The children in Grade Six who were to make their Confirmation will therefore complete the workbook and program preparation in Term Four at home and be ready to make their Confirmation in 2021 on a date to be arranged.
Eucharist -
Due to the continued restrictions the Sacrament of Eucharist has been postponed until next year as well. We want this to be a special celebration and one that your child can celebrate with all their family and friends rather than to be restricted to maybe just the parents and having to be celebrated individually.
Letters have been sent home to all the families involved, outlining the details of the current Sacramental program. Please contact Mrs Lee if you have any further questions.
