Grade 3/4 In house School Camp

Last week the 3/4‘s had camp at school since they are unable to go to a campsite. They have been doing activities such as playing Gaga ball, and trying damper for the first time. We interviewed some 3/4 students about their school camp, here are their responses.

What has been your favourite activity you have done so far?

Orienteering because it was fun to run around & because he likes to do puzzles because they are challenging.

How did you feel when you were told camp was cancelled? 

Annoyed because he really wanted to go to camp like how they were supposed to.

How did you feel when the teachers told you’re having a school camp?

Excited because he can hang out with his friends and they could still do the camp activities even though they are at school.

Have you been enjoying the school camp so far?

Yes because he gets to make food with Mr.Gibson and with Brandt, and Brandt also told funny stories which they enjoyed.

What has been your favourite activity so far?

Probably cooking the damper.

How was the damper?

It tasted very nice.

What Are some of the activities you've done at home?

I did the activity of sleeping out of my bed.

What have you enjoyed most about camp?

The activities we did this morning. We did a scavenger hunt, we looked for notes with numbers and letters next to it. In the end the letters would create a word.

What were you looking forward to about camp?

Just wearing casual clothes instead of our school uniform.

Does it feel weird dressing casual at school with no one else?

No, it doesn’t really feel weird. 

What would you do if you were at Camp?

I would be playing sports. 

How do you feel about having camp at school? 

It's still fun, but I think it would be better actually at camp.

The cooking activity where we made damper.

What are some activities you've done at home?

I set up a fort in my bedroom.

What did you think that you were going to do in camp? 

I thought that we were just going to play class games and not do as much work.

What did you do on camp? 

We did scavenger hunts, cooking and class games.

My favourite thing so far has been toasting marshmallows and cooking damper.

What did you think that you were going to do in camp? 

I expected there to be a vertical slide at camp.

What did you do in camp? 

We played team games and made damper.

What have you enjoyed most about camp? 

I enjoy that we don’t have to learn all day and we get to wear casual clothes and get to do fun activities.

What were you looking forward to about camp? 

Maybe doing all the fun activities, and we got to make bread.

Does it feel weird dressing casual at school with no one else? 

It does feel weird because in the mornings I feel like I’m the only one wearing casual clothes and my teacher might ask why I am wearing casual clothes.

What would you do if you were at Camp? 

I would like to play gaga ball and sit at the fire and toast marshmallows.

How do you feel about having camp at school? 

It feels a bit weird how we’re not actually on camp but it still feels fun because of the activities and we do stuff like you would at camp like with no technology.
