DECEMBER ENSEMBLES CONCERT

Congratulations to all the students from the Junior and Intermediate Ensembles who performed in a stellar concert on Wednesday 6 December in the School Hall.  It was fantastic to hear the standard that had been achieved over the year from all the ensembles.  Thank you to all those who were in the audience for your ongoing support.  Thank you also to all the music teachers who assisted the students in achieving such a high level.

AVEO PERFORMANCE

On Tuesday 5 December, the Year 8 and 9 vocal students along with Ms West, took a trip down to the AVEO Retirement Village in Bentleigh to perform for the elderly. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the elderly residents.

Our performances included:

  • Naomi Kricheli’s opening act singing whilst accompanying herself on guitar (performing ‘Hotel California’ by the Eagles);
  • a group performance featuring myself, Chloe Lo, Grace James, Tia Finn and James Vassiliou (performing ‘Say Something’ by  A Great Big World’);
  • Gizelle Sakr and Phoebe Lock (performing ‘For Good’ featured in ‘Wicked’ the musical);
  • Clare Wever (singing ‘As far as the eye can see’ by Sophie Wright);
  • Alice Duchesne (singing Jolene by Dolly Parton, self-accompanied on piano);
  • Maskit Matitiyahu (singing ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran);
  • the performance ended with Naomi Kricheli self-accompanied on guitar, (singing ‘Castle on the Hill’ by Ed Sheeran).

The experience was extremely fun and meaningful as it was my first time performing a song with a featured solo. Initially, I was really nervous and afraid that I was going to make a mistake. However, as I kept singing, I became used to it and started to sing the song with a bit more confidence. After all the performances were finished, we were kindly invited to stay and enjoy some afternoon tea provided by the staff. Overall, it was a great experience for everybody and the day ended on a happy note.

CLAREMONT TERRACE – TUESDAY 12 DECEMBER

Congratulations to all the students in the Semester 2, Year 9 Music Performance class who performed at Claremont Terrace on Tuesday 12 December. The students, under the direction of Mrs Theresa Ford, composed and arranged music, rehearsed and presented a vast range of music to the residents.  Well done!

CAROL SERVICE - SUNDAY 10 DECEMBER

Over thirty excited choir students in red (Senior Singers in their spangled blue outfits) took up three pews (Coatesville Primary on the other side) of the Bentleigh Uniting Church to sing all the carols with the congregation, with some verses on their own.

Senior Singers also sang three numbers on their own including Glee's uptempo ‘Deck the Rooftop’ with Kate Collier, Eriks Stepanuks and James Hardy as soloists and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” opening with a mellow jazzy solo by Liz Tsagliotis. We finished the service with some fun Christmas songs with Coatesville including Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer accompanied by James Hardy on the piano. Andrew Seamer from Year 7 played a violin solo during the service as well. At the end there was a huge morning tea and we all were given a Christmas bauble as thanks - and flowers for the conductor.
