YEAR 7 GIRLS TABLE TENNIS STATE FINALS

Congratulations to the Year 7 Girls Table Tennis team, consisting of Jade Nicholls, Lisa Liu, Chloe Shin, Emily Danckert and Jennifer Hoang, for representing McKinnon Secondary College at the Table Tennis State Final that was held on Wednesday 22 November at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

In the Round Robin pool stage, the girls lost to East Doncaster Secondary College (State Champions) six matches to nil in the first round. They then beat Galen Catholic College five matches to one in the second round, and Wonthaggi Secondary College six matches to nil in the third round. This placed the girls second in their pool and set up a semi-final showdown with Maribyrnong College, which they lost six matches to nil.

 

This placed the girls equal third in the State.

YEAR 7 BOYS TABLE TENNIS STATE FINALS

Congratulations to the Year 7 Boys Table Tennis team, consisting of Haruku Nishikawa, Andrew Seamer, Zong Yu Li, Marco Guo and Kevin Feng, for representing McKinnon Secondary College at the Table Tennis State Final that was held on Monday 27 November at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

In the Round Robin pool stage, the boys lost to Mount Waverley Secondary College (State Champions) five matches to one in the first round. They then beat Wangaratta High School five matches to one in the second round, and Wonthaggi Secondary College five matches to one in the third round. This placed the boys second in their pool and set up a semi-final showdown with Sirius College. The Semi-Final was a nail-biter. McKinnon won three matches and Sirius won three matches. Unfortunately for the boys, they lost on a count back (12 sets to nine).

 

This placed the boys equal third in the State.

YEAR 8 BOYS TABLE TENNIS STATE FINAL

Congratulations to the following Year 8 Boys, Damon Levy, Helish Patel, Joshua Patlazhanu, Akhil Surapaneni, Connor and Lachlan Truong for representing McKinnon Secondary College at the Table Tennis State Final that was held on Monday 27 November at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

The boys lost to Balwyn High School (State Runners up) six matches to nil in the first round. They also lost to Galen Catholic College four games to two games in the second round, however, they won against Wonthaggi Secondary College four games to two games in the third round.

 

This placed the boys third in their pool round robin stage and equal fifth in the State.

INTERMEDIATE BOYS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The National All-Schools Basketball Tournament was held last week between 4-8 December. Our Intermediate Boys team had a very successful tournament winning Bronze. Johnno Hunt was the 5th highest scorer for the tournament with an average of 19.25 points per match, this included the 37 points he scored in the Final.

GIRLS NATIONAL BASKETBALL

Early mornings and late nights were common as Mckinnon Intermediate girls took on the Nationals Basketball Tournament during the 4th to 8th of December. The girls won three games but unfortunately missed out on a finals position on head to head point count back.
