Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

I was so happy to seee so many of you at the Concert. It was a fantastic event and the feedback was extremely positive. A huge thank you to all staff for a job well done and the fantastic children who were absolutely brilliant.

As you are aware, this is the busiest

time of the year as we complete reports,

organise staffing, transitions to Prep and

Secondary Schools and class allocations for

2019. In this busy time it is easy to lose

focus on what is really important. It is a

time when we need to stop, breathe and

relax, a time to recognise that our children

remain our number one priority. On the

weekend whilst shopping, I was amazed

that as a society we are exposed to the

commercialisation of Christmas

everywhere. I often ask myself what has

Christmas become? Where is the Christ in

Christmas? And what is it that we want in

this season of joy? As a school, we try very

hard to keep the children grounded and

teach them that not everyone in our world

has the possibilities of spending heaps of

money at the shops, so we look at other

ways of reaching out to those in need. Take

some time to think about those who are

less fortunate than yourself and perhaps

consider reaching out to them this

Christmas.

As we review our Learning and Teaching

programs and devise an Annual Action Plan

for 2019, we give thanks for all that has been

achieved this year. The 2019 school year

will be a year in which we continue to focus

on explicit teaching to improve outcomes in

Literacy and Numeracy, particularly

Writing, Spelling and Number facts. We will

continue to pre and post-test so that we can

accurately identify student needs. As extra

curricula activities in 2019, we will

introduce a Dance and Gymnastics Program in Term 3.

A huge thank you to so many people who helped out at the fantastic Concert. The Parents and Friends made a profit od $1253.48, thanks to your contribution.

Congratulations to all Year 5 children who did a brilliant job presenting their talks for leadership positions in 2019. It was simply wonderful.

My thanks to Stephen Luckman for a job well done at todays House Sports and to the parents at the sausage sizzle. It was a wonderful display of sportsmanship and a huge congratulations to Medici who win yet again!

We have our Fete to look forward to and my hope is that everyone in our community will work together to produce the best Fete ever.

Congratulations to Belinda and Nicholas Anderson on the birth of Harlan (3.41kg) a little brother for a very proud sister Eve (PrepE)

The next newsletter will outline all staffing for 2019.

Until next week, regards

Dino
