the way to treasures

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life."
John narrates the words of Jesus to a group of disciples who really want to know what’s in store for them. Like most people, they are concerned with what comes after this life; both Thomas and Phillip query him about where he is going.
Jesus' response is telling to where he wants his followers to put their priorities and understand what is most important to Jesus and his father.
- In saying that he is the ‘way,’ he relates the importance that life is an incredible journey and Jesus provides the path for both an abundant life, one knowing him and living in relationship with God.
- In saying that he is the ‘truth’ along the way of life, he is giving us a feast of what truly makes life great.
- In saying that he is the ‘life,’ we understand that only inside his life can we find salvation now and forever.
These are three of the great treasures that Jesus gives us. Because our theme for the term is Goldrush, and encountering the immense wealth of blessing that God has for us, much greater than all the wealth in the world, we see these three metaphors of Jesus providing the richness of life together.
I pray that you all are able to hear the words of Jesus this week and rest easy that the way to God is through him, his words and his life right here and right now.
