Dear Parents/Guardians

It was a pleasure to be in the audience and enjoy the production of ‘Seussical’ this week. Once again, Jenny Fairweather and her team, have excelled with producing another high-quality musical. I was so proud of our students, staff and parent and grandparent volunteers that worked together to make the musical such a success. Staging a production like this is really a team effort. So many people played such a significant role in making it all happen. It really demonstrated to me once again what a special community we have at HCC. The children involved in the performance will have memories from this that are lifelong. An extra special blessing was having the entire student body of Wyndham Christian College who visited Heatherton during the week for a special matinee performance. This was the first time that our sister school has visited us. A combined sports event with all our Prep-Grade 4 students and the Wyndham students after the performance was a great opportunity for the students to mix and have some fun together.

Most of our Year 10 students, four staff (Darren John, Chris Davis, Christy Marshall and Claire Sim), and one of our alumni (Joash Rajaratnam) are leaving next Monday for our annual Year 10 Mission Trip. Our team will be flying to the YWAM base at Townsville, QLD for preparation for outreach activities to the communities of Palm Island and Yarrabah. Each year our students return with a renewed passion for their faith and for others, particularly the less fortunate. I have heard many testimonies over the years of this trip being a watershed moment in students’ faith journey. Please pray for our group.
