Ready to Learn Scales

At the end of last year, and continuing this term, we have had a team of teachers and ES staff attending some really powerful learning sessions around the Berry St Educational Model (BSEM). It "is a practical approach to teaching and learning that enables teachers to increase engagement with students with complex, unmet learning needs and successfully improve all students’ self-regulation, growth and academic achievement. The pedagogical strategies incorporate evidence-based trauma-aware teaching, positive education, and wellbeing practices." (Read more about it here).

Our team of adult learners (Bron Steele, Bianca Davies, Simone Bailey and Briony Palframan-Doe) have been in turn providing our whole staff with learning modules that complement our work in Positive Education and Wellbeing.

One focus for all classes in 2021 is the addition of "Ready to Learn Scales" in all learning spaces. Ready to Learn Scales are a system used by students in classrooms to identify difficult emotions or stress, both collectively and individually. Students and staff have also been identifying self-regulation tools that suit them individually so that we all feel as ready to learn as we can. We know that by taking 2-3 minutes out of our day to re-centre our learning readiness, our brains are more prepared to learn and grow.

School Photos

Last year we were so lucky to sneak a school photo day in later in the year, and it's already that time again!

This year MSP Photography will be taking our photos on the 16th of March and photos can only be ordered through Compass. This is a new process and means that paper orders and envelopes will not be coming home so make sure you don't miss out!

Photo ordering can be found on your Compass homepage (on a web browser). Please contact the office if you are having trouble.
