Principal's Report

Kalinda Crews - Strengthening Relationships

After starting Kalinda Crews for a few sessions last year and then having them interrupted by lockdowns and pandemic protocols, it was so exciting for our Kalinda Crews to launch again last week.  Kalinda Crews will take place every second Friday (alternating with assembly) and I was lucky enough to be able to step in and lead one of the crews last week.

Our aim is to work towards the Yr 6 students taking the lead in the Crews by the end of the term, with a gradual release of responsibility from the teacher connected to each Crew. In our first session last week, many of our Yr 6 students have been able to step up and lead almost the entire session straight away.

The point of our Kalinda Crews is developing positive student-student relationships between students from a range of year levels and also positive relationships between students and teachers beyond their home group teacher. Building positive relationships within a school is proven to increase student engagement and well-being and this is an incredibly timely focus for us after we spent so much of last year being separated from each other.

Unwell students

We are so grateful that the term has been able to proceed smoothly with only a very short interruption from the circuit-breaker lockdown. However, I would just like to remind everyone that students must stay home when they are unwell. This is important in ensuring we can maintain a covid-safe school environment and play our part in reducing community transmission.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Parent-Teacher interviews will be conducted during the final week of this term via Webex. This is part of changes to our feedback schedule that spreads parent feedback over the course of the year. This includes interviews in Terms 1 and 3 and an updated reporting format for Semester Reports in Terms 2 and 4.

Further details about the date, time and booking will be sent out via COMPASS next week.

2022 Enrolments

Enrolments are now open for 2022 and it would be great to start receiving your enrolment forms for students beginning in Foundation (or at other levels next year). The sooner we receive enrolments, the sooner we can begin planning for next year. Please find the enrolment form below and it can be sent to the school via post (Kalinda Primary School, 39-49 Kalinda Rd, Ringwood 3134) or by email to kalinda.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au
