Environment Group News

Ms Kathryn Badini

Last Friday was the official Schools’ Clean Australia Day and the Environment Group celebrated with three events:

eWASTE DRIVE

An eWaste drive in the morning. This eWaste drive will be happening once a term

  • Term 2: 28 – 29 May
  • Term 3: 20 – 21 August
  • Term 4: 12 November

GREEN ARMY

A ‘green army’ assembled during Break to help clean the yard and encourage other students to do so as well.

PRIMARY CLEAN UP

A Primary Clean Up of the creek in the afternoon. Just under 70 students helped to clean Enoggera Creek; it became quite an adventure to try and track down as much rubbish as they could. In total, they filled a bin full of rubbish and 50 bottles and cans – all saved from our catchment.

Between these events and the Senior Clean-Up on Sunday, we’ve had over 150 students participate in Clean Up Australia Day events; it is wonderful to see how enthusiastic MCA boys have been to do their part for the environment.

The Environment Group will all like to thank the many teachers who stayed back to help with the primary clean – Anne Quill, Liam Beatty, Michael Connolly, Elizabeth Kenny, Damian Nelson, James Walton, Daniel Bull, Claire Fitzpatrick, Peter Lehman, and Deb Maddox.

The Environment Group meets Day 9, Break 1B in 207 – all students welcome.
