Year 6 - Term 1A, 2023

Transdisciplinary Theme

'How The World Works'

 Central Idea

EXPLORATION OF INTERESTS AND PASSIONS INSPIRES LEARNING AND INNOVATION

In the final year of the Primary Years Programme, the students participate in a culminating project which is the PYP Exhibition. The Exhibition represents a significant event in the life of a PYP School and student which celebrates the transition of learners from primary to secondary education.

The Year Six students will be exploring real-world problems through their passions and interests in preparation for their PYP Exhibition early in Term 3. The Exhibition is a collaborative experience which provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to take responsibility for their learning. The Exhibition is a powerful demonstration of student agency with all students taking an active role in all aspects of planning, investigating, generating, producing, evaluating, communicating and reflecting on their learning in the Exhibition.

Concepts, Learner Profile Attributes and Skills such as collaboration and self-regulation will be explored and reflected on when students research their chosen issue.

Action

Through the course of the Exhibition students will be encouraged to demonstrate how they can take action as a result of their learning.
