Australian Business & Community Network (ABCN) Innovate Program

Some of our Year 7 and Year 8 students recently completed a three-session program, called “Innovate”, with ABCN and mentors from Lend Lease.  These sessions were focused on applying STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) solutions to a human problem. 

The students, working with their mentors, had to develop and apply empathy to their user, needing to understand their problem before they could develop a technology-based solution.  The final session gave students and mentors the opportunity to present their solutions, along with explaining how their proposed solution would benefit their user. 

Congratulations to the students involved; they were mature, attentive and engaged and showed great empathy, which was evident in their solutions and comments from mentors.
