Messages from the Office

Reducing Our Plastic Use

As a sustainable school we are focused on reducing our plastic use and all the ways we can care for the environment for our students future.

Some students investigated this week and discovered that each day we are going through approximately 21 plastic bin liners a day which costs the school $250 a fortnight.

Students are focused on greatly reducing this by bringing nude food lunch boxes as much as possible.

Thank you to all our families for supporting us with nude food lunch boxes.

Messages for Students throughout the day

As the office can receive many calls from parents/carers with messages for their children throughout the school day, each class now has a 'message box' outside the school office.

Every day at 3pm classes will be called up to collect their message box, their teacher will then pass these messages to individual students.

We ask, where possible, for all messages to be called through to the office before 3pm each day.

Thankyou for your help with this new initiative which we hope will limit disruption to learning throughout the school day and avoid the multiple announcements during breaks.

Early Pick up of children from school

Can I please request that parents contact individual staff members as early as possible if you are collecting your child/ren prior to the end of the school day. This will help in organising for children to be sent to the office ready for collection. Based on the increasing frequency of these occurrences we are unable to use the PA system due to the distraction and disruption it causes to teaching and learning across the school. PA announcements occur only during recess and lunch.

As teachers do not have constant access to emails during the day, I encourage as much advanced notice as possible so we can do our best to have your child/ren ready and waiting for collection. Office staff will do their best to support you where possible, however there may be delays especially if no advanced notice is provided.

Assembly pick up reminder

Please note that on Friday afternoons during assembly, it may be difficult to pick your child up in a timely manner. To avoid assembly interruption, please call and collect your child prior to 2pm so that we can arrange for your child to be at the office waiting for you.

CSEF - FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Every Victorian child should have access to the world of learning opportunities that exist beyond the classroom. The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps ensure that no student will miss out on the opportunity to join their classmates for important, educational and fun activities. It is part of making Victoria the Education State and the Government’s commitment to breaking the link between a student’s background and their outcomes.

CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF)

School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership.  All are a part of a healthy curriculum.

CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

The annual CSEF amount per student is:

  • $125 for primary school students
  • $225 for secondary school students

New applicants should contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application form or download from the website below.
