Grade 4

Writers Notebooks:

Over the last 2 weeks the Year 4 students have been working hard to produce some incredible entries in their Writers Notebooks. They will be bringing these home next week for our first book sharing opportunity for the year. Throughout next week we will be working towards identifying a range of different writing pieces to share with you and practice discussing our work. 

Please take the time to discuss this incredible work with your children as they have worked hard to produce some incredible work! 

Maths:

Over the last 2 weeks the Year 4 students have been working towards using a range of different addition and subtraction strategies to solve problems. 

We have had the opportunity to learn and practice;

• Addition and subtraction on a number line
• The split strategy 
• Vertical addition and subtraction
• The addition and subtraction algorithm

We teach students a range of different strategies so they are able to identify a strategy that works for them.
