Learning and Teaching

Benjamin White

It’s hard to believe that Term 1 is already coming to an end. It feels like only yesterday we were welcoming our students back to school after the summer break, and now we find ourselves preparing for mid-semester reports and parent-teacher interviews.

As we reflect on the past few months, I am proud of our students’ dedication and hard work towards their studies. They have shown resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to learn, which is a testament to their character and your support at home.

With the NAPLAN testing period now behind us, I would like to extend my thanks to our Year 7 and 9 students for their efforts. While we understand that this can be a stressful time for our students, it’s important to remember that NAPLAN is only one measure of their progress, and we encourage you to support your child to approach their learning holistically, including extracurricular activities.

Regarding NAPLAN, ACARA have developed new proficiency standards for students’ individual reports, and these will be seen when they are published later this year. More information about these standards, and how to interpret them, has been included below.

As we approach the end of Term 1, I would like to remind you that mid-semester reports will be published on PAM at 10AM on Friday, March 24. This is an important opportunity for you to receive feedback on your child’s progress. Additionally, bookings for Parent-Teacher interviews will open at 12:30PM on Friday, March 24. We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to attend these interviews to discuss their child’s progress, ask questions, and identify any areas for improvement.

We value your continued support in your child’s education and look forward to continuing to work together to help them achieve their full potential.
