Assistant Principal's News

Fiona Scullion - Assistant Principal (Acting)

Dear Parents,

NAPLAN testing for Years 3 and 5 will be taking place next week on Wednesday 15th March to Friday 17th March. There will be some catch up sessions held the following week for any students who were absent for the testing window.

What is NAPLAN?

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assess the literacy and numeracy skills of students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Students participate in NAPLAN tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. NAPLAN provides an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. The tests are just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance.

NAPLAN also provides schools and education authorities with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

All students have been preparing at school by looking at testing formats and the types of questions they will be exposed to. Students have also been provided with opportunities to complete practice tests in all areas.

We wish all our students the best of luck as they engage in these tests.

St Francis Xavier Uniform Expectations

Thank you to the majority of students who are wearing their uniforms with pride everyday. A gentle reminder that all students must wear the correct summer and sports uniform. This includes correct socks and clean shoes.

All girls with long hair are required to tie their hair back and only the correct green or black coloured hair ties and scrunchies are to be worn.

Kind regards

Fiona Scullion
