tDear Sacred Heart School Community,
Prayer
Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.
Amen
Year Three Sacrament of First Reconciliation
Congratulations to our students:
Amy Shamus Brenton Annabelle Harper
Allie Isabella Chloe Natalie Azariah
Tristan (and his brother and sister Tayshaun and Aliyah)
who received the Sacrament of First Reconciliation last night in a spirit filled ceremony. We pray for each of these students as they continue on their exciting faith journey.
St Patrick's Day
Our school leaders along with Kate, represented our school last Friday at the very special Mass at the cathedral celebrating the Feast of Saint Patrick.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day which is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home was celebrated at our school on Monday. In a school such as Sacred Heart where we pride ourselves on the diverse heritage of our students and their families, the day has particular significance. Thank you Kate for organising such a great experience for our school and our students and their families for embracing the day.
Thursday 30th March - School Closure Day
A reminder that this Thursday 30th March, is a school closure day as our staff will be working on their professional development around the area of Faith Development in our students. Youth Leadership Victoria will contact parents in the coming days to see if there is a demand for their services on this day.
Lauren - "Hair with Heart"
As you would have read in our newsletter these past weeks, our Year Four student Lauren is cutting some of her magnificent locks for "Hair with Heart". To support her, our students are asked to bring a gold coin donation on Monday 3rd April. On this day Lauren will cut her hair at a special school assembly.
Discovery Day at Mercy College Coburg
Yesterday I had the privilege of being with some of our Year Four students as they experienced a day in a secondary school environment. Thank you to Mercy College Coburg Principal Mrs Lila McInerney and her staff, for giving our girls such an insightful day.
Hot Cross Bun Orders
We have about thirty packets of hot cross buns left for sale. As of Monday, members of our Parents and Friends group will sell the buns after school. Remember that all money raised goes towards resources and equipment for our students. Thank you to all the families who have bought buns and/or made a donation so far.
Easter Raffle
Our Easter Raffle will commence next Friday with our students selling tickets after school each night. Tickets will be 50 cents or three tickets for a dollar. Again all money raised will go towards student resources and equipment.
Holiday Program
Please be aware that there is information contained in this newsletter on the OSHC page about the upcoming holiday program run by Youth Leadership Victoria.
From the Parish Bulletin
A few Irish laughs ...
Why do leprechauns love to garden? They have green thumbs!
What do you call a leprechaun prank? A saint pat-trick.
What happens if a leprechaun falls into the ocean? He gets wet, of course.
Why Do leprechauns make good secretaries? To be sure, they’re great at shorthand! When does a leprechaun cross the road? When it turns green!
How did the leprechaun win the race? He took a shortcut.
What did the giant say to the leprechaun? Look up!
Why wouldn’t you borrow money from a leprechaun? Because they’re always a little short. You know you overdid it on St Patrick's Day when you think you're kissing the Blarney Stone and then it kisses back.
Why did St Patrick drive the snakes out of Ireland? Because he couldn’t afford a plane ticket.

We have a beautiful new family who have joined our school community this year. Mum is on her own with her son and is urgently looking for some work. She has had a lot of experience in her former country of residence, working as a nurses assistant. If you know of any work in the "care" industry looking after people who need assistance, please let me know. I can vouch for this mum recommending her as a great worker with impressive personal qualities.
Yours Sincerely
