Principal Report

Hi everyone,

It’s wonderful to be back at school connecting with students and families again after the break. I hope that the time away was enjoyable and that families had opportunities to reconnect with each other.

Term 4 is a longer than usual Term (12 weeks), however it is jam packed with learning, events and excitement not to be missed.

Last week, not only did our Prep – Gr 6 students begin Term 4 happy, settled and ready to learn, we also had our 2023 Preps attended their first Leap Into Learning transition to school session. There were many smiling and excited little people here at Oatlands confidently waving goodbye to parents/caregivers/guardians ready to enjoy their first school experience with us.

Our Prep – Gr 6 students and staff have begun practicing for our whole school dance production “Let’s Get Loud Oatlands’ coming up on Wednesday 16th November. The enthusiasm and vibe during practice sessions in the gym this week has been wonderful to witness. It’s going to be a fabulous event so be sure to mark it on your calendars as you won’t want to miss seeing us perform.

We also have our School Fete coming up on Friday 4th November from 2.30pm – 7.30pm which is going to be a fantastic event. We are hoping for a record attendance this year and we’re beyond thrilled to finally get the opportunity to celebrate Oatlands’ Primary Schools 25th Year Anniversary (delayed due to Covid in 2020). The staff are certainly looking forward to catching up with many of our current and ex-students and families who attend.

For our Year 6 students, this will be their final term with us before moving on to Secondary College beginning the next chapter in their learning, growth and development. This cohort of students have not missed a beat this year considering how disruptive their previous 2 years of schooling were. They are a wonderful bunch of students and Term 4 will provide them with wonderful opportunities to reminisce about their years at Oatlands while celebrating the end of an era with staff, friends and family. There are many wonderful activities and celebrations they will experience together this term and I hope that the students reflect fondly on their years at Oatlands, not just now but into the future.

I hope families enjoy the extra daylight hours and hints of warmer weather this term which are certainly encouraging to get out, about and active. We all know the positive benefits this can have to both physical and mental health and wellbeing.
