Learning and Teaching - Petrina

Welcome back everyone to Term 4.

It has been great to see all our students back with big smiles on their faces. We hope everyone has had a restful break.

Our Literacy intervention programs will recommence this term again with Robyn running Spelling Intervention, and Sinead running PERI and ERIK which are evidence-based programs. Leaders are conducting evidence-based assessments and screeners as well as extension programs for students. This term we will resume our Tutoring Program across Prep to Six. Families will be contacted in relation to these focus groups. If you have any Literacy questions please feel free to contact your classroom teacher or Keena our Literacy Leader.

While Mr Bremner is on leave please feel free to contact your classroom teacher or myself if you have any questions in relation to your child's learning and progress in Mathematics.

In Learning Investigations our students across the school will be learning about physical science, diversity and history. There will be incursions and excursions happening too so keep a regular eye on your Seesaw account for more updates.

Tome has working closely with students to help them settle back into school routines and expectations. We are blessed with his support across all year levels.

Some of our teachers will have professional development opportunities this term in Discovery, NCCD, Religious Education and Leadership.

Interschool Softball

The 2022 sporting calendar is winding down.  It was our sensational Softballer's turn to represent St Brigid's on Tuesday the 4th of October.  The boys and girls teams put their batting and fielding skills to the test against the other Macedon Ranges District schools.  As always our students represented our school with outstanding sportsmanship.  Our boys team just missed out on making it to the Grand Final finishing 3rd overall and our girls team improved throughout the day drawing several of their games.

Well done to all of our softballers.

Seniors Visual Art Project

Did you see some of our Senior students feature in this month's Gisborne Gazette? Earlier in the year, our school and Bullengarook Special School were approached by the Macedon Ranges Health team to collaborate on a project with a local artist, Henry O'Sullivan, focussing on creating art and conversations about mental health, gratitude and mindfulness. Our Senior students created many artworks over the course of the project, including mindful paint pouring and individual art pieces that showed things they were grateful for. They participated in meditations and conversations around the challenges of the pandemic, strategies they could use in difficult situations, and how to identify and approach the support people they have around them.
