Miss Mel's Message

Acting Principal - St Brigid's Primary School

Week 1, Term 4

Welcome to Term 4!

I am personally super excited to be leading our beautiful community this term as Acting Principal. I thank you for your kind words and continued support.

This term we are focusing on continuing to build strong connections with students, staff and families. Something we cherish so much in our wonderful community, everyone looking out for everyone else.

Spring is in the air! We have kick started with some exciting new changes to various spaces around the school. See if you can point them out. More to follow.

Welcome to Rachel Goodyear-Glassey who is working with Chek in Middle AB, and Simone Robson who is working in Prep KL for Keena's leader release on Fridays, and on Mondays in LZ for Lisa. Both Rachel and Simone have come to us with a wealth of experience and we feel very blessed to have them in our community. Please introduce yourselves if you see them around.

Students also now have the option of some great passive play activities at break time, which they have engaged in with enthusiasm, across all levels.

We are also beginning our clubs. Walking club, dance, choir, gardening and many more. Students have taken up this opportunity to create and lead their own clubs. A great example of what we do so well here at St Brigids, empower our students to take risks, lead and teach others and tap into their passions.

Another community action is the start-up of our St Brigid’s playgroup. This is beginning Friday 14th from 9am until 11am. You can arrive at any time and stay as long as you like. Have a chat and a cuppa and bring a friend, grandparent, special person and their kids! All ages from babies to kinder kids welcome. No RSVP required. Miss Annie and myself will be there to greet you, along with some of our senior students. We are opening up expressions of interest to our senior group who will write a short letter to Miss Annie and I expressing reasons they believe the playgroup would be a great learning opportunity for them, and what strengths they bring to the role. It will be part of the students learning plan, which includes updates for our media platforms, and regular reflections on the sessions.

Building works continue to chug along in the background. It has been a very slow process. Tenders came in, however, due to increases in materials, we have struggled to keep it under budget. We have had to revise plans, and have reviewed the latest tenders. Hopefully we will have the builder confirmed in the very near future.

Please look out for our question of the month in the foyer. We value your feedback and this is one simple way we will continue to check in with you. Feedback is how we grow and improve, your voice helps us to know what we are doing well, and need to keep doing, as well as the things that we can refine or improve. Drop me a line, or pop past and see me.

Prep orientation sessions begin in a few weeks. We are seeking parent volunteers on Friday 11th, 18th and 25th of November between 9 am and 11 am to set up, pack up and serve morning tea to our new families. Please contact me with your availability on any of these dates.
