As you will be aware, the past week has been one of much sadness for Churchill Campus and the wider college community.  The tragic and sudden passing of our much-valued staff member, Glen Stephenson, has left us all shocked and numb.

Glen has touched so many of our lives and he will be deeply missed. Glen was a dedicated teacher who had a passion for learning, always striving to learn more and seeking feedback on how he could improve.

Glen had a unique connection with our students and supported them to try different things and take up the many opportunities provided for them.  He encouraged many students to be a part of the Alpine Leadership School and to step out of their comfort zone.

I have been overwhelmed and ever so grateful for the many offers of support by families, staff, regional office staff and the broader community. It is comforting to know that people are ready to step in and do whatever is required during such difficult times.

On behalf of my staff and Kurnai College, I thank you all for your well wishes.

Mobile Phones at School

A reminder that students are not to have their phones during the school day. If students bring their mobile phone to school, then they need to adhere to our policy.

Phones should be in bags or lockers prior to class at 8.25 am and until the end of the day at 2.45 pm.

Students wishing to use the EFTPOS facilities at the canteen are encouraged to use a card, or alternatively pay with cash.

Catch-up Class

To support students to complete unfinished class work they will be referred to my lunchtime catch-up class held on a Tuesday and a Thursday.  A text will be sent home to inform families whether their child has attended or not.

Other than the natural consequence of not satisfactorily completing the work if students do not attend, there may also be further consequences including follow-up with myself and the College Principal, Anthony Rodaughan.
