Wow what a season our Open Basketball team had! Our playing group have been fortunate to have stayed together for several seasons cementing the development of the team under Coach Andy’s watchful eye.

The Season commenced with the regular CaSSSA season where the team was able to learn together and refine the game plan. The team while challenged weekly by the other CaSSSA Schools came through unbeaten and claimed the Open basketball title for the 2nd year running!

At the end of the CaSSSA season the team competed at the Champion Basketball School Queensland competition, this comp is the largest basketball comp in the state for schools and teams travel from long distances to play.  The team was led by our Y12’s Cara Dinneen and Sophie Bennett who have been integral over the years to the development of this team through both playing and coaching.

Jumping up the 2nd Division was always going to be tough this year, but with a team full of stars the challenge was accepted.  While the team lost the first game, it weas just the wake up we needed.  The Team went on to finish 2nd in Pool B and then fought a harder path to the finals, a cross over game, quarter final, semi final drained every reserve the team had.  With a nights rest the team went all out for the grand final but fell just short of the dream outcome losing to a very talented All Hallows team.

While there was some disappointment to lose the Final, stepping back and looking at what the team achieved over the season gave us more than enough reason to celebrate.  An amazing outcome, we are so thankful to the parents, supporters and of course Coach Andy for leading this team.
